As is vividly depicted in the above two cartoons, we can learn that two father’ s teaching methods differ. In the first cartoon, the father, who is urging his son to study hard, is smoking and watching TV idly. In the second cartoon, the father and his son are both concentrating on the study. The thought-provoking caption under the cartoon reads: “It is better to set a good example than to make demands”.

Apparently, the author of the cartoons intends to remind us of the importance of role model. Many parents tend to neglect the impact of their own acts on their children when educating their children. There is no doubt that parents are not only the care-givers but also the role models to be copied for their children. We all know that children acquire knowledge and skills by observation and imitation, sometimes even unconsciously. Parents, as their primary role models, are constantly influencing their children in their growth. Parents who successfully set positive role models for their children will help to build a healthy and harmonious family atmosphere, which is of great benefit to the future development of their children. What’s more, the responsibility of being a role model can also encourage parents to better themselves.

From my perspective, education from parents is of vital importance to a child’s healthy growth. Therefore, parents should provide their children with a favorable growing environment by being a positive role model. Only through persistent efforts and proper guidance can parents contribute to their childrens’ personal growth and development.
