Big Expenses during Spring Festival

Spring Festival is a happy season. It is also a moment for big expenses, as the chart indicates. Residents in this city spend 40% of the money on gifts for their family and friends. 20% of the expenses go to the cost for traffic. Partying for dinner costs them another 20%. And the rest money is spent for various other purposes.

How should we account for this allocation of expenses? On one hand, it is attributable to their improved financial conditions. Most city families are now rich enough to spend much money on things other than basic living necessities. On the other hand, it is closely related to the change in people’s lifestyle or attitude. They feel happier and also want to make other people happier than ever. Last but not least, Spring Festival is supposedly the most important occasion for us Chinese people in a year. So they are willing to spend money as they wish.

With the data and possible causes in mind, I have good reason to believe that people in this city will go on following the trend in the years to come. That is really strong evidence of our good living conditions and social stability. As a Chinese, I feel cheerful, optimistic and truly inspired.
