日子过得非常悠闲。没有人管我，也不需要开会。一早起来，到马铃薯地里，掐了一把花，几枝叶子，回到屋里，插在玻璃杯里，对着它画，马铃薯的花是很好画的。伞形花序（umbel），有一点像复瓣水仙（daffodil），颜色是白的，浅紫的，紫花有的偏红，有的偏蓝。当中一个小窝头似的黄心。叶子大都相似，奇数羽状复叶，只是有的圆一点，有的尖一点，颜色有的深一点，有的淡一点，如此而已。我画这玩意儿又没有定额，尽可慢慢地画，不过我画得还是很用心的，尽量画得像。
The flower is arranged in umbels, looking a bit like a double-petaled daffodil, with white or light purple colors. Some of the purple flowers are reddish while others are bluish. The flower has a yellow-tipped stamen like a little steamed corn bread in its center. Most of the leaves are alike, which are odd pinnate compound leaves. Some leaves are a little round while others are a little sharp; some are dark-colored while others are light-colored—no more differences. No one has asked me to finish my drawing in a limited time, so I can do it slowly, but I keep drawing attentively to make it look as alike as I can.
